The 7-day Rongai route is a popular option for climbers looking for a slightly shorter trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. The Rongai route approaches the mountain from the north, providing a unique perspective and a less crowded experience compared to other routes. With a success rate of around 75-80%, the Rongai route offers a good chance of reaching the summit. It is considered a moderately challenging route, suitable for climbers with moderate fitness levels. The trail passes through diverse landscapes, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and rocky terrains, offering a varied and scenic journey.
When you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Lauwo Adventure staff will be there to welcome you and accompany you throughout your entire Kilimanjaro experience. Your guide will assist you with settling in and provide you with a brief orientation, before driving you to your accommodation for the first night in Kilimanjaro. As a top-ranked Kilimanjaro tour company, we are committed to providing you with exceptional adventure from the moment you arrive.
After an early breakfast in Moshi or Arusha, drive to Rongai Gate near the Kenya border. After registering at the gate, begin your climb to Uhuru Peak also known as the roof of Africa. Hike through forests where you may see and hear wildlife. Eat lunch on the trail before continuing to the first campsite. Rongai ascends via the less forested northern side of the mountain. The Rongai Route is one of the least crowded routes on Kilimanjaro because of the long drive to the gate. The Rongai trail is thought to have the best chance of viewing wildlife.
